Françay is an agricultural commune where cereal crops are grown, including rapeseed. Rapeseed is a yellow-flowered annual plant of the Brassicaceae family, formerly known as Cruciferae. It is widely cultivated for the production of edible oil and agrofuels. Along with sunflowers and olives, it is one of the three main sources of edible vegetable oil in Europe.

The 12th-century building comprises an elongated, narrow nave ending in a semicircular apse covered by an oven, and two later, 16th-century side chapels.
The entrance is flanked by triple-stepped pillars surmounted by capitals adorned with foliage and grimacing masks. A toric archivolt surmounted by a Gothic window frames the entrance portal on the main façade.
